Well, this post is only a week later than I had planned, that's not too bad, right? Considering I went back to class this week (Analysis of the Individual, and Classroom Management {mandatory education class since my undergrad was NOT in education}), things have fallen by the wayside just a bit. On a small side note, I love being back in school. My field placement application has been accepted, and I will soon be placed for my 450 hour internships for next year!
But I'm here now.
And I decided when I started running, to use trusty old Instagram to document my journey. I mean, I'm sure there are some people out there who are like, Uhhhg, why does she keep posting these running pictures with her mileage? Why is she so full of herself? Actually, I'm quite sure that Facebook acquaintances have voiced this opinion, but I assure you it is NOT for that reason.
It's to hold me accountable. And to motivate me.
You see. If I post a picture with 0.5 mileage -- that's not good for me. I won't do it. I'll run more. I'll get to 4 miles. I'll get to 5 miles. It's a great motivator! It works for me. So take that, Facebook Acquaintance! ;)
Anyway, with a cold/flu/whatever it was taking me out for the first two weeks of January, my mileage for the month was at 35.98 miles. See?

And here's how I got there:

5.05 miles on January 12

3.2 miles on January 13

4.5 miles on January 15

5.53 miles on January 19
3.21 miles on January 20 -- picture wouldn't open!

3.68 miles on January 23

4.29 miles on January 26
![]() |
3.3 miles January 27

3.32 miles January 29
So there you have it. My mileage.
I admit, when I first started typing this post, I was thinking I wish I did more. I know I could have done more. But after taking the time to copy every picture over and type the mileage -- I did pretty well! Considering the weather, the lack of daylight, and how both of those things limit my time, I still did pretty well.
Can't wait to see what February's results are! :)

Great job, and welcome to the crazy world of running!

Proud of you girlie! Seeing you out there getting it done helps to motivate me :)
ReplyDeleteI love running now. I used to hate it at first. I started being able to run 5 minutes at a time, now I can do it for 1 hour so i know how it feels to keep going and pushing yourself. You are doing great, keep going and congrats on all that you are accomplishing. Very exciting stuff.
ReplyDeleteYay Steph!!! Glad you're writing down your milage and documenting it!!! Seeing it in front of you is a great motivator. FB acquaintances can shut it. lol. Haven't talked to you in forever, so wanted to come by and say hi -- and I'm really glad I saw this post! You go girl!!! totally_rachel
